The Plastic Truth Buried in Landfill.
Most people think soft plastic waste only comes from shopping bags and food wrappers. The truth? Australia’s biggest plastic problem is largely B2B industrial waste.
We estimate that every year, 380,000 to 390,000 tonnes of soft plastics – shrink wrap, liners, bulk packaging film, offcuts (and more) are generated behind closed doors in factories and warehouses. It is the majority of our soft plastic waste. And almost none of it gets recycled.
A Fractured System
Centralised ‘waste management’ doesn’t recycle. It buries. Why? Because dumping is easier and more profitable than dealing with plastics like LDPE.
